Macro Magic from Agumbe - I

With the monsoons starting to set in, it was time for some macro magic at Agumbe, in Karnataka. I joined a group of  very enthusiastic photographers, who were headed to the Agumbe, for a photography workshop being organized by Darter Photography. This was to be my first experience at macro hunting and macro photography and was I in for a treat or what..!!!…..Here’s a quick post, more of a photo essay, from this jaunt of mine……………Hope you enjoy it………….

From Wikipedia,

Agumbe (Kannada: ಆಗುಂಬೆ) is a village located in the Shimoga district in the state of Karnataka, India. Lying in the Thirthahalli taluk and the Malnad region, Agumbe is among the places in India that receive very heavy rainfall earning it the sobriquet, “Cherrapunji of the South”.[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=“yes” overflow=“visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=“1_1” background_position=“left top” background_color="" border_size="" border_color="" border_style=“solid” spacing=“yes” background_image="" background_repeat=“no-repeat” padding="" margin_top=“0px” margin_bottom=“0px” class="" id="" animation_type="" animation_speed=“0.3” animation_direction=“left” hide_on_mobile=“no” center_content=“no” min_height=“none”][1] It is also the home of the Agumbe Rainforest Research Station, the only permanent rainforest research station in India.[2] The renowned herpetologist, Romulus Whitaker called Agumbe the capital of King Cobra.[3] An area near Agumbe has been converted into a protected area for Medicinal Plants to help in their conservation.

Living in tents right in the middle of the rainforest. Every trail that we go on, teeming with leeches….!… They will just be all over you…..and you will learn to ignore them… :)….No electricity….., after dark, it is really dark…., torches are the only source of light. And our trails get more interesting at night. Have never ever ventured out in such darkness, let alone in a thick rainforest like this…….. Was a hair raising experience to say the least………

Have managed to process a few of my images thus far, here they are…….
